Boro kept up their incredible run of form with a 4-0 victory against 10-man
Preston to close the gap on second-placed Sheffield United. Chuba Akpom
scored his 25th goal of the season - and 11th in 10 games - to open the
scoring before Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer added another quick
double.
Chuba Akpom
Boro have cut the gap on Sheffield United to four points with a 3-1 win
against Swansea. Cameron Archer scored twice and Chuba Akpom scored his
23rd goal of the season to give Middlesbrough control of the race for
promotion.
Super Eagles forward has been in outstanding form this season, scoring six
goals more than his nearest rival and looking to claim his first golden
boot award.
In other results, Luton and Sunderland played out a 1-1 draw at Sunderland,
while Millwall dropped into fifth and Norwich held onto their lead with an
0-0 draw against Stoke. Despite the draw, Luton are still fourth but just
three points ahead of Boro.
At Earlier, Middlesbrough defeated Preston to close the gap on Sheffield
United to three points. Aaron Ramsey and Cameron Archer each scored a
double while Chuba Akpom added his 23rd of the season. It was an impressive
display from Middlesbrough and if they can maintain this level of play,
they may add a promotion title to their collection.

Ki-Jana Hoever
Jurgen Klopp fielded a number of teenagers for Liverpool's Carabao Cup
third round match against MK Dons, with Ki-Jana Hoever scoring his first
senior goal at 17 years old. The Reds' youngsters continued their
impressive start to the season with an impressive 2-0 victory at Stadium MK
thanks to goals from James Milner and Hoever that earned them a
fourth-round tie against Arsenal next month.
Millwall further solidified their place in the top six with a 2-1 win
against Swansea at The Den. Charlie Cresswell opened the scoring before
Andreas Voglsammer doubled Millwall's advantage.
Premier League Leicester City crushed Luton Town 4-1 as Demarai Gray, Youri
Tielemeans and Kelechi Iheanacho all scored goals. Preston held on for a
draw at Rotherham to keep their slim play-off hopes alive while Blackpool
leapfrogged QPR at the bottom of the Championship with an emphatic 6-1 win.
The other marquee EFL match of the weekend was Stoke City versus Blackburn
Rovers, with Stoke winning 2-1 thanks to Dwight Gayle's goal. Sammie
Szmodics and Brereton Diaz both made late attempts at reducing the deficit
but it proved too little too late as Blackburn held on for victory.

Jamie Reid
The EFL saw a host of late goals across the leagues, with some of the best
coming from some top sides. Leeds United came back from being down 2-0 at
Cardiff to draw 2-2, while Teemu Pukki scored an injury time winner at
Norwich City to keep them top of the table.
Jamie Reid scored a vital goal to give Stevenage their second league
victory of the season and propel them back into the top two with a 1-0
triumph against Crewe Alexandra. The striker, who had scored two goals
previously at Gresty Road, fired home an unstoppable low shot to break
Alex's resistance.
Meanwhile, high-flying Boro made history by becoming the EFL's leading
headed goalscorers with their 3-0 victory against Leyton Orient. Steve
Evans' men lead by one point with their eighth and ninth headers this
season.
Gustavo Hamer
Coventry United rallied from a goal down at Stoke to claim a thrilling 2-1
victory. Gustavo Hamer scored the game-winner as the Sky Blues extended
their unbeaten streak to four matches.
After the break, Hamer's impressive long-range effort from 25 yards leveled
the game. That was enough for a point and will serve as a major boost to
Mark Robins' side as they remain in contention for a play-off spot.
Luton manager Nathan Jones has insisted his side must improve when they
face Blackburn Rovers this weekend. The Hatters are currently 16th place
and haven't won in six games.
After an impressive start, a poor first-half performance cost them dearly
as Carrlton Morris opened the scoring on 15 minutes after Harry Cornick
capitalized on Kyle McFadzean's mistake.
