In an attempt to avert a power outage due to the coming storms, at the
request of FSD the ITC manually activated its generator and once it
warmed up, moved the load onto the generator.
In the past, this maneuver has successfully avoided interruptions.
Today, the generator failed to accept the load, even when started
manually and allowed to warm up in advance.
The ITC briefly shut of the computer room HVAC to see if this would
help, but the generator still would not stabilize. HVAC was immediately
restored when temperatures began to rise.
ITC has found it necessary to switch back to street power.
If the street power fails, the UPS currently indicates that it will
protect the load from battery power for 12 minutes.
Any clients of the ITC who are concerned about the possibility of a
power outage due to the ongoing storm are advised to take measures to
shut down their systems.
We have contacted Fidelity Engineering and are requesting expedited
service for the generator.
